Google Nexus Soars Above iPads for Business Users Thanks to Built in NFC

Move over iPad! There’s a new tablet which is quickly becoming the number one choice for business users – and it’s all thanks to the built in NFC!

Both the Nexus 7″ and 10″ tablets benefit from built in NFC (near field communication), which can be an extremely useful feature for business users, especially those within retail or the public sector. NFC allows users to share data, send files and perform specific contactless tasks. For example, if used in retail, RFID codes on products can be scanned by the device to make shoppers aware of a promotion or discount. In addition to read/write capabilities, NFC has two other modes, both of which involve dynamic, two-way communication. These are known as card emulation and peer-to-peer.

Tablet Enclosures & Device Integration

Here at imageHOLDERS, we’ve designed and manufactured a number of tablet enclosures with integrated RFID or NFC devices. However, the Google Nexus range has made things even more simple for our customers as this feature is already available! This keeps costs down and allows your business to deploy a secure tablet enclosure which can be used in a variety of ways:

  • Scan Contactless Cards for ID purposes or Loyalty Points etc
  • Make Secure Card Payments (Mobile Wallet)
  • Send Files from Tablet Device to Another Smart Phone / Tablet
  • Gain Access to Buildings or Areas which have a NFC Enabled Key

NFC technology can be hugely beneficial for any company wanting to deploy tablets as part of their sales or marketing strategy. Following the growing demand for Google Nexus devices, imageHOLDERS have developed a Nexus 10 Tablet Enclosure as part of our standard range. We have also helped businesses deploy the smaller 7″ device, take a look at our Google Nexus 7 Case Study for more information.

As the potential of NFC technology is released, it’s predicted that 50% of smart phones and tablets will have built in NFC by 2014. Whilst that date isn’t far off, the Google Nexus has kickstarted the trend and it’s not slowing down by any means. So, if you want to unleash the power of the Nexus, contact us today for support and guidance on secure tablet enclosure solutions.
