When the Future Becomes the Present: Touchscreens from Screen to Reality

The rate technology evolves is remarkable, and the results of it can be somewhat unbelievable. As short as 10 years ago we did not foresee such advancements (at least, not happening as quickly as they have). Yet here we are today, using our phones for contactless payments, getting pizza delivered by self-driving vans, and considering the real possibility of 3D metal printing in mass production!

Avatar (2009)

Set in the year 2154, the base is filled with futuristic technology, including touch screens. The colour themes tied in with the movies main characters, with varying shades of blue and green.

Ender’s Game (2013)

Touch screens appear vigorously in this film; it is used to coordinate the military army used to win the war.

Jurassic World (2015)

The staff use touch screen kiosks at their workstations to view security data.

What Happened to Monday (2017)

Touch screen kiosks are used daily to register each worker’s identity. Users biometrics are also scanned to establish their health; whilst we don’t quite have this at-home technology, biometrics is becoming a bigger part of the latest technology releases.

Black Panther (2018)

Shuri’s lab is filled with touch screen holograms, enabling her to defend Wakanda at the touch of a button.
