3 Highlights of CES 2017

The doors have closed on another fantastic year of technology launches at CES. Discover the team’s 3 favourite reveals from the Consumer Electronics Show 2017!Tablet Kiosks and iPad Enclosures for Exhibitions

Before the launch of CES, we recommended 5 exhibits that we anticipated to showcase the most advanced products in technology history. Now that CES is over for another year, we can confirm which exhibit predictions came true! Sony did launch a OLED TV and it is, as Sony describes, ‘the lightest, thinnest and most beautiful TV on the planet’. Asus revealed the Google Tango ready smartphone, Nvidia released its GeForce 1050 Ti and Honda showed off the self-driving concept car, the NeuV. Best of all, Holosonics did reveal their new sound technology Audio Spotlight, which means companies wishing to use tablet kiosks at exhibitions can include localised sound for visitors.

Now that CES 2017 is over, we’ve hand-picked another 3 technologies premiered at the show:

  • RCA reveals exciting new tablets

RCA, an up and coming Windows and Android tablet manufacturer showcased three new tablets at CES 2017. The Horizon 17-inch tablet is ideal for family use with its 17-inch widescreen perfect for watching TV and movies on the go, including a 64 GB flash drive, 2GB RAM and Quad Core 6.0. The Voyager III 7”, an Android tablet, is supported by the Intel Atom processor, making it an ideal tablet for use within tablet kiosk stands due to its long length battery life and lightning fast web browsing. Lastly, the 12.2-inch Android 2 in 1 tablet and PC comes with a 6.0 processor with Folio case, Quadcore chipset and HD screen with dual camera.

  • Extend a tablet enclosure’s capability with the Intel Compute card

Intel launched the new Compute Card, enabling any device to become smart and upgrade their computing and connectivity at any time. The Intel Compute Card is simple to connect, and opens virtually unlimited potential for businesses via a compute card slot. This will enable devices such as tablets to expand their capabilities, such as simplifying inventory management so that tablet kiosks can become even smarter.

Tablet enclosures and iPad kiosks are well suited to all aspects of hospitality including back of house.

  • Wireless charging is becoming a reality

It’s not quite here yet, but CES 2017 gave us an insight into a much-needed technology; wireless charging. Dell unveiled the Latitude 7285, a two in one Windows 10 computer with a desktop wireless charging pad. Another company called Energous revealed the WattUp wireless system, which beams power to devices using radio frequencies. They suggest that forthcoming large transmitters will be able to offer charging at up to 15 feet! This technology could offer unlimited potential for the retail, restaurant and exhibition industries. Retailers can process sales at the till, pick up their tablet, wander the store and record stock without ever having to stop and charge their tablet. iPad retail stands could be placed anywhere, without the need for a power station!

With so many exciting technologies unveiled this year, we can’t wait to see how they develop and how they can enhance our own products, including iPad enclosures and kiosks.
