imageHOLDERS work with Picsolve on self and assisted service kiosks used within the One World Observatory, based in New York at the World Trade Center.

The Client

One World Observatory is located on the 100th, 101st and 102nd floors of the World Trade Center in New York. Being the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and sixth tallest in the world, this means the views from here of the iconic New York skyline are like no other!

Picsolve are content creation pioneers, capturing images and videos of the moments that people enjoy and want to relive and share, from destinations such as theme parks, sporting events, museums and monuments. Capturing content since 1994, Picsolve have grown to be the world’s number one content creation company, with over 500 installations worldwide – now including the One World Observatory, at the World Trade Center in New York.

imageHOLDERS provided a solution to Picsolve for the One World Observatory after implementing a multi-device kiosk solution at Thorpe Park, one of the largest theme parks in the UK.

The Solution

To transfer the photo viewing and order points into a more interactive experience, we implemented a multi-device solution using the new Hero Mini kiosks, which can be tailored to include scanners, RFID readers, touchscreen PC’s and tablets. The solution for Picsolve included an integrated scanner and receipt printer, with the option for an additional chip and PIN reader, plus a Shell+ 15 tablet enclosure to provide a highly secure solution designed specifically for use in heavy footfall environments.

The customer is able to scan their QR code received at the photo point, bringing up all associated photos with that code onto the kiosk screen, where they are then able to view and choose from many different backgrounds- by using a 15″ screen within the enclosure, this meant that customers could clearly view these images and their background options when choosing which to purchase. The customer is then able to pay for their selected package, such as their photo on a mug, within a keyring, or printed in a One World Observatory memorabilia wallet, using the contactless NFC reader integrated within the kiosk. The kiosk then prints off a collection receipt for the customer, which they can use to pick up their souvenirs from the collection point.

The Results

The staff verdict? They love it! Through the implementation of our solutions within the One World Observatory, the staff are able to add a more enhanced level of customer service, with more time available to assist visitors, whilst reducing queuing times and increasing the transaction rate.

Staff within the One World Observatory stated that they had seen a huge improvement over the use of the handheld tablet, which would quickly lose power and need to be charged up regularly. The Hero Mini kiosks provide a permanently powered, user-friendly and easy to use solution for both self and assisted service.
